KDWT ambassadors read books to kids as part of giving stories to kids at the children's hospital. A DVD was presented to the Women's & Children's Hospital of Buffalo for the kids who are not able to connect with the general public.
KDWT Honors Programs
As part of the Ohana100 GO! READ project, KDWT Ambassadors distributed over 1,400 books to programs in WNY servicing children in need during the month of June 2015. Recipients of the Spring BOOK GIVING were
Family Help Center, Family Justice Center, Mrs. Strauss Class @ Harris Hill Elementary, New York State School For The Blind, Niagara County Head Start Program* (*North Tonawanda, Donovan, DiFrancesco, Newfane & Lockport Centers), Orchard Park Recreation Center, Orleans Outreach Program, Vive La Casa- Jericho Road, Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo. KDWT members were fortunate to designate six organizations that do meaningful things to help support children in our community. Great Job KDWT Ambassadors!
CELEBRATING VALENTINE'S DAY AND CHINESE NEW YEAR
KDWT Celebrates Valentines Day by visiting seniors during the month of February.
KDWT members visited 20 seniors at the Amherst Senior Center to celebrate Valentine's Day in 2015. They sang along with the Karaoke, played their musical instruments and distributed special personalized Valentine cards and cupcakes. It was a very special moment for one particular senior who expressed a lot of emotion and wanted a hug from the members. Thank you to Ms. Karen, Mr. Matt and the center staff for allowing us this opportunity to spend time with your seniors
KUNG HEI FAT CHOY!!!! KDWT Ambassadors celebrated Chines New Year with 30 seniors at the Heathwood Assisted Living Center. They played Chinese Bingo, sang along with seniors and played their musical instruments. The seniors also had the opportunity to pop their own faux firecracker. The kids shared their valentine cards and cupcakes to. It was a very special day for everyone!

KDWT Ambassador Catherine spent her MLK Holiday reading to 21 children at the YMCA Twin Tiers Early Head Start Program in Olean, NY Monday, January 19, 2015- MLK DAY.

Kids did many wonderful things in the 2014. Here is a RECAP of the services and activities conducted in the community.
HONORING OUR VETERANS
On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, KDWT ambassadors in WNY made thank you cards and baked cupcakes for five neighboring Veterans. While baking, the kids shared what they thought about veterans day. The kids delivered a box of cupcakes to each Veteran. These veterans were thrilled and very appreciative. They shared special stories and photographs about their time in service.
Left: Mr. Cicero was a sailor in the Navy and retired after 23 years of service. Right: Mr. Curry is a Navy Veteran who served during Vietnam War.
ABOVE Left: Mr. Scriven is a retired Marine Veteran who served on 3 battleships. Right: Mr. Orlendof joined the Navy at age 19 and served during the Korean War .
BELOW: Mr. Ensign is a World War II Combat Veteran who served in Europe. He joined the service at age 19. He received many medals and one thats most treasured is his Purple Heart.
COLLECTING NEW & GENTLY USED BOOKS
In May 2014, KDWT and Park School collected 956 gently used books. KDWT and Ohana100 Club delivered those books to Perry Elementary School in Wyoming County.
In November 2014, KDWT collected and delivered 386 books to Olean Early Learning Center- YMCA of the Twin Tier. This program services 3 counties, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in Western New York and 1 in Pennsylvania. These books will help the program build their community library. Thank You to our partners 7th Graders at St. Peter & Paul and Mrs. Young’s Daisy Troop, Mrs. Pace and Gelber & O’Connell for making this distribution possible.

n December 2014, KDWT WNY adopted two families for the holiday. Adoption made possible by Clarence Community Pantry. Special Thanks to the five families who donated gifts.
As part of December 2014 holiday giving, KDWT Hawaii visited Ka Punawai Ola, a senior nursing home in Kapolei, Hawaii. Kids presented a holiday fruit and sock basket and entertained seniors with a violin, dancing and singing performance. Thank you to Ms. Leilani and Staff for allowing KDWT the opportunity to share the Joy of Giving this holiday.

APPLE FESTIVAL @ Clarence United Methodist Church. October 2014
KDWT picked-up four boxes of recyclable newspapers and two large garbage bags of old rags from the community. November 25, 2014.
KDWT delivered recyclable goods to the SPCA serving Erie County in WNY. The SPCA cares for approximately 14,000 animals each year. KWDT visited some of the animals up for adoption. December 6, 2014.
